Rest, Trust ME πŸ™

My daughter finished school last year, and lately I’ve been carrying this enormous pressure to make everything happen for her future.

But today my Father has been speaking gently to my heart: β€œREST. TRUST ME. I AM her Father too.”

If you are tired from carrying heavy burdens, come to me and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

To give a little background let me start off by telling you dear reader about my background and how the Father is showing me that so much of the stress l feel as a parent stems from my own background and upbringing.

I grew up feeling abandoned in a home where both my parents were physically but not emotionally available.

I also struggle with trusting the Father as my provider because my parents were financially unstable throughout my life and l learned just not to ask.

There’s such a difference between how I was raised and how I want to raise my daughter.

My parents never really spoke to me about my future, guided me, advised me, or financially helped me. The Holy Spirit began showing me how deeply that affected me and especially in the area of finances.

And because of that, there’s a part of me that wants to do everything differently for my daughter. I want to help her, support her, guide her, and be present in ways I never experienced myself.

The Father has been teaching me that striving, fear, and carrying everything alone were never His plan for me. He is gently leading me to depend on Him, trust His provision, and rest in knowing that He is a good Father who cares for every detail of our lives.

He is showing me that he wants to take care of my daughter’s future.

The Holy Spirit keeps bringing the worship song β€œIt’s All About You” to mind and l realized l need to stop making it all about me and my husband as parents and what we can and cannot provide as parents and make it ALL about HIM.

So today l ask you where’s your focus?

I heard someone say in a clip l think it was Priscilla Shirer that instead of always starting off our prayers with God l need… or God please help me…

We should rather say God l want you to be glorified in this situation πŸ™Œ

So l say  God take my broken past and be glorified in my present πŸ™Œ

The Holy Spirit spoke to me as l prayed asking for his guidance and showed me that there’s a fine line between wanting to do everything that l can for my daughter and SEEKING God for what HE wants me to do and trusting the Lord to work in her life and to open doors and lead her.

But through all of this, the Holy Spirit has been showing me something so important: I cannot allow fear or pressure to lead me. I need to put my faith and trust in HIM and allow HIM to lead and guide me as a parent in what l need to do and how l am able to help her.

A lady in my connect group said something that really stayed with me: β€œWhat do you have in your hands right now that you can do to help her?”

That question shifted my perspective.

I started seeking God for practical ways we could support her which led to us making a few decisions, to help pay for her to get her driver’s license and to encourage her to apply for a bursary to start studying next year after a conversation I had with my niece who told me about the bursary she received that led to her getting her degree and the entire cost of her degree paid off!

What seemed to be a difficult situation God turned around giving direction and guidance.

This is my story and it’s certainly not over…

What situation are you facing right now where you need to practically seek God and allow Him to lead and guide you?

God does not ask us to carry everything alone. He asks us to Seek Him his guidance, direction and provision.

So remember this β€” it’s simple:

SG

S β€” Seek
G β€” God

Seek Him first, and trust Him to lead and guide you step by step. πŸ™Œ
